So long, not goodbye

When Jim and I opened 20th St. Art Gallery in 2001, we wanted to create a space for new and emerging artists to share their work. What we didn't realize then was that we were actually creating a family - linked not by genes but creative spirit - of artists, buyers and those who value imagination.

We hope that family continues to live on even as we close the doors to the gallery on October 16, 2010. We plan to continue with our charity work and fundraisers, but have decided more pressing needs demand our attention over the day-to-day details of the gallery.

We want to thank the incredible talents who have shown with us and made our 50-50 and 20-20 shows as well as our Second Saturday openings such a success. We exhibited each year more than a hundred different artists, many for the first time ever. We especially want to thank those who have worked for us over the years, happily helping with the mundane hanging of art, late-night clean-ups and running of a business. They helped drown out even the nitty-gritty of tasks with laughter.

We say so long with a heavy heart, but continue to find ways to feed our artistic souls and grow this colorful family.

Wishing you well,
Jim and Joanie Ferry
